Moosewood!!

Lunch at Moosewood?!? Yum, Yum!!!

From Nevada to Upstate New York...

As if a trip to Vegas wasn't exciting enough, I also had a chance to go to Upstate New York last month!

First stop was Farm Sanctuary to take a tour and see some of the animals.

This is Rose. Mooooo. :)

And I saw a Cardinal, which we don't see in Seattle!! He's so bright and red!! :D

Viva Las Vegas!! Celine Dion

I couldn't go to Vegas without seeing CELINE DION!

In the Colosseum, waiting for Celine to appear...

*************************************************************************
"But sharky, why Celine?" I can hear yourself asking.

Am I a huge Celine fan? Well...um...okay, not really.

I do like her music, but after hearing Kathy Griffin's commentary on "Cirque de Celine" (a.k.a. "the worlds biggest freak show"), I knew that it was a must see.

It was a little...um...cheesy at times, but the music was great (#1 fave, "I Drove All Night" followed closely, of course, by "My Heart Will Go On").

And...she fell during one of the numbers, which I'm pretty sure wasn't part of the choreography. So that alone made it a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Viva Celine!!

Viva Las Vegas!! Seeing the Sites

I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the baby lions at MGM Grand, but they were playing over in a hidden area.

This may have been for the best because I was already torn about the idea of enjoying myself while watching animals whose home is inside of a Las Vegas casino.

I ended up deciding that I couldn't go and see my old college roommate who now has a gig at the Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage. It just didn't seem right.

So I decided to have some gelato, and do a little shopping when I came upon the Guinness Book of Records
Worlds Largest Aloha Shirt. I was so lucky to run across it, because it wasn't in any of the guidebooks!

What kind of trip to Vegas would it be without a little gambling? So I played some Video Poker, and enjoyed many complementary Club Sodas.
(Very refreshing!)

I also made sure to slow down and appreciate some finer points of Vegas. There was a show of Ansel Adams' work at the Bellagio, which made for a wonderful morning. BTW, I highly recommend both the breakfast and dinner buffets at the Bellagio. Two words: CRAB LEGS (dinner only). Dee-licious.

I took a minute to meditate at the replica of Thailand’s Buddhist Brahma Shrine outside of Caesars Palace, and of course, had to see the replica of Michelangelo’s David. (He was very...uh, well...naked.)

Biggest disappointment in Vegas? I saw no Elvi. Not one. sigh...

Viva Las Vegas!! Checking out the Strip

New York, New York

South Strip from Caesars Skybridge

Hamming it up at the MGM Grand

Waiting for the fountains at the Bellagio

Inside (yes,
inside!) at the Venetian...

and outside...

A quick stop at Paris before...

... a Margarita at Bobby Flay's Mesa...

...and then a nap.

Viva Las Vegas!! At the hotel

Announcing sharkyus pointytoothacus, arriving at Caesars Palace

The view from the room.

How many times in a shark's life does he get to wake up to Toni Braxton?!?

Hanging by the pool.

Note to travelers: do not make the same mistake I did. Be sure to pack sunscreen! :(
